This week's theme is Halloween and the children couldn't have been more excited for it! We read various Halloween themed books to work on our language skills, as well as drawing on paper with crayons, playing "Skeleton Says," reading along to "5 Little Pumpkins," putting words onto felt boards, and letter blocks. We got into the Halloween spirit in math by placing insect counters into tins, as well as playing with math tiles and counting little pumpkins. We continued with our Halloween spirit as we worked on our motor development by dancing to Monster Mash, as well as playing with waffle blocks and puzzles. In art this week, we sponge painted, painted mini pumpkins, glued cotton balls onto ghost cutouts, and made handprint spiders. Tomorrow we will continue to read Halloween books and play with magnet letters and cookie sheets in language. We will play with math tiles for cognition development. For motor development we will play with Lego blocks and dress up and march around the room in our trick or treat parade. In art we will create a pumpkin lantern. We will also be carving a pumpkin!

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall and Jack and Jill had a fall.... this week's theme was none other than nursery rhymes. In language this week, we did a word wall, which introduced the children to nursery rhymes. We looked at pictures of different words that rhyme (cat, hat, etc.). We also colored on paper with colored pencils, wrote on paper plates with markers, wrote on chalkboards with chalk, wrote on paper with crayons, and placed different pictures on a felt board. We also read a lot of different nursery rhymes. In math and science this week, we used tongs to place cotton balls on contact paper as we counted them, we sorted various utensils by type and color, we pushed pipe cleaners through a colander, we matched different colored mittens, and we mixed different colored food coloring into water. In motor development this week, we played follow the leader and did different movements, we stacked sound and sort stackers, we jumped over a candlestick like Jack, we created spider webs by placing yarn on contact paper, and we ripped white paper. In art this week, we made paper plate sheep by gluing cotton balls onto paper plates, we made our own candles by painting toilet paper rolls and gluing on the flame, we created spider webs by rolling marbles around in white paint, and we painted mitten cutouts. This week we also placed shredded paper and animals in our sensory bin and went over various sign words such as, please, more, help, and all done.

Tomorrow we will continue with our nursery rhymes by reading Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill. We will write on dry erase boards with markers in language, count and sort eggs to work on our math skills, carry eggs on spoons and manipulate animal puzzles to work on our motor development, and in art we will glue the paper we ripped today onto an oval shaped paper in attempts to put Humpty Dumpty back again.

This week's theme was fire safety/community helpers. In language this week, we did fire writing, which we used our fingers to write in red paint in Ziploc bags, we traced hoses, we played with foam letters, and we used colored pencils to write on notebook paper. In math and science this week, we did puzzles, shape matched fire trucks and ambulances, and sorted different colored envelopes into the correct mailboxes. In motor development this week, we practiced stop, drop, and roll, played with waffle blocks, ripped up orange and yellow paper, practiced blowing out tissue paper candles, and stacked boxes. In art we, played dress up, made a fire collage out of the paper we ripped, and did stamps. We added community helper dolls to our block area and the children enjoyed playing with them very much!

This week's theme was pirate. The children enjoyed reading books about pirates and listening to pirate songs. In language this week, we rolled a pirate cube and named the pictures on it, wrote on magnet board, colored with crayons and paper, did letter matching, and traced lines on our treasure map. In math and science this week, we played with magnet numbers and cookie sheets, sorted coins into ice cube trays, did a sinking experiment, and placed gems on grids. In motor development this week, we stacked wood tiles, stacked and manipulated cups, used tongs to place gems into ice cube trays, and walked the "plank." We also hid coins outside and ran around to find them. In art this week, we painted a treasure chest, painted a pirate telescope, decorated a pirate hat, and glued brown squares onto a pirate ship and made handprints on our pirate flag. We also added rice and treasure in our sensory table along with scoops. Tomorrow we will write on chalkboards with chalk, match different colored pirates, play with shape sorters, and make our very own pirate.

It's officially fall and the children have jumped right into this week's theme. In language this week, we read various books about fall, wrote on magnetic writing boards, used bingo daubers on the letter F, played with magnet letter, and wrote with chalk on chalkboards. In math and science this week, we played with animal puzzles, math tiles, and made cinnamon playdough. In motor development this week, we stacked bristle blocks, waffle blocks, played with rainbow caterpillar gears, and flowers and flowerpots. In art this week, we glued leaf cutouts onto a poster board, used apples to stamp paint onto construction paper, and used a loofah to paint onto a tree. We also practiced putting on our coats using the flip trick. Tomorrow, we will color on leaf cutouts with markers, match acorns to the correct color container, jump like "popcorn", manipulate letter connectors, and make pumpkin pie art by stamping paint with pumpkin sponge and sprinkling pumpkin pie spice on top.

This week's theme was colors and shapes and the young toddlers enjoyed it so much! In language this week we colored on different shapes (red circles, orange rectangles, yellow triangles, and green squares) with crayons, markers, and colored pencils. We also read a lot off shape and color books. In math and science this week we did various shape puzzles, matched shape cutouts to their outlines, sorted Legos onto color mats, and mixed primary colors in Ziploc bags to create new colors! In motor development this week, we manipulated rainbow caterpillar gears, played with sensory bead shapes, placed yellow triangle tissue paper onto contact paper, and built with bristle blocks. In art we used cups to stamp red circles onto paper, painted a large rectangular box with red, yellow, and orang paint, glued yellow triangles onto paper, and used stamped bristle cubes into green paint to paint our papers. We also played with colorful airsoft balls in our sensory table, played with the parachute outside, took turns rolling a shape dice and naming the colors and shapes, and used paper plates to hit balloons. Tomorrow we will color on blue star shaped paper, sort through shapes to find the odd one out, hop onto different colors and shapes, and use blue finger paint to paint on stars.

This week's theme was friends. For language development this week, we read various books and colored on paper with crayons. In math this week, we counted friends and played with magnetic numbers. To work on our motor development, we played with waffle blocks and threading boards. In art this week, we colored on strips of paper. Tomorrow we will read books, play I Spy, manipulate shaving cream picture bags, and make monster friends in art.

This week's theme was All About Me. This week, we read books which helped us with our language skills. To help with our cognitive skills, we traced our bodies, traced our hands and used ink to make fingerprints, played with math tiles, magnets, and played with shape cupcakes. To work on our motor skills this week, we played with animal connectors, blocks, and used tongs to sort pompoms into ice cube trays. In art this week, we painted our body outlines and decorated paper dolls with markers. tomorrow we will stack alphabet blocks in language, manipulate magnets for cognition, march around the room and play with bristle blocks for motor development, and finger paint in art.

This week's theme was "Back to School." In language this week, we read various books relating to the theme, we colored the letter A, wrote on chalkboards with chalk, played with magnetic letters, wrote with pencils in notebooks, and did a group drawing. In math and science this week, we matched different colored apples, sorted school supplies, drove cars into parking spots on the table, and made a cornstarch goop. In motor development this week, we filled bags with different items, strung beads on shoelaces, put clothes on a person cutout, and sorted buttons into ice cube trays. In art this week, we started a paper Mache apple, glued macaroni onto a pencil, painted and used popsicle sticks to make picture frames, and decorated "lunchboxes." We also worked in pairs to build block structures and played find the baby in the classroom. Tomorrow we will listen to back to school songs, color on paper with crayons, match different shapes and do shape puzzles, manipulate peg boards and paint our paper Mache apple.

This week's theme was Lego. In language this week, we read various books, colored on paper, and wrote with chalk on chalkboards. For motor development this week, we manipulated math tiles, waffle blocks, letter blocks, and soft Lego blocks. In art this week, we painted with Legos, colored on Lego shaped paper, and glued shapes onto paper. We also played with various types of Legos: big ones, small ones, hard ones, and soft ones. We made Lego soup in our sensory table with water, Legos, and various utensils, including ladles and tongs. Hope you enjoy your long weekend!
