This week in the Summer School Age room:

The theme was music this week. We went through classical, jazz/blues, disco, 80's, and pop! The class really enjoyed listening to different songs & writing down what it made them think of.

On Monday, we went to Miller Road park where everyone played on the climber and we all enjoyed a nice walk on the pier.

On Tuesday, half of the class took their final walk to the weaving studio. In class, we started working on our windchimes.

On Wednesday, we went to Edgewater park & that was an absolute blast! The brand new park has so much to do and explore. Mr. Krems surprised us with ice cream sandwiches after lunch! THANK YOU.

On Thursday, the other half of the class made their way to their final day of the weaving studio. We finished up our windchimes and took them home to hang up.

On Friday, we visited Bain park again. The kids liked climbing on the climber and running around, playing different games.

See you next week for our final week of summer together!

Rockin' through Music Week - School Age

Posted by [email protected] on August 6, 2020 at 5:20 PM

We have been rocking right on through music week! Our room looks so awesome, decorated with all our homemade keyboards, trumpets, boomboxes AND disco balls! We have been discussing a lot about how we can hear, see, and even feel music by vibrations. And we took time each day to listen to different genres of music, discussing how those might make our moods different!

LEGO week will be our last week here. So naturally, we will be turning our room into a lego town!I We're going to create paintings using legos, buildings out of legos, lego people and we will even be doing some ice excavation for...you guessed it! LEGOS!! I cannot believe that next week will be the last week here but we have plenty of fun things to still do! We will be making our own popsicles, and eating them too! There will be water relay races and water balloon tosses. I even have a little secret up my sleeve. I will be bringing in some whipped cream pies for all of them...to throw at me on the last day! I have a feeling that this will be one of the activities they will be enjoying most. I'm looking forward to it all! Have a great weekend!

Learning About Sports! - School Age

Posted by [email protected] on July 31, 2020 at 9:45 AM

We have been keeping our blood pumping this week for our sports theme! We have learned how to play soccer, baseball and basketball! We have also been discussing how our hearts beat, why exercise is important and the olympics! We even touched on a hard topic, Inertia!! We did a few different experiments to show how this works, using bill nye the science guy here and there to help explain in detail! We now know that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion, unless there is an outside force! Next week we'll be learning about music families and making our very own instruments! Also, we will be talking about different genres of music, and how music makes us feel. Lots of fun crafts and experiments coming up, We look forward in sharing with you! Have a great weekend!
