Getting Off to a Great Start! - Pre-School

We have gotten off to a great start with our new friends joining the class. Monday in art the children explored painting with sponges and in math the children sorted counting bears by color. Tuesday in art the children painted with watercolors and in language they traced their names with bingo dabbers. Wednesday in art the children created cookie cutter prints with paint and in math the children worked with stringing beads. This was a good fine motor activity as well and after stringing they counted their beads. Today in art the children painted at the art easel and in language they dictated what their favorite part of school is and for math they engaged in a musical chairs game and named the shape under their chair when the music stopped. Tomorrow in art the children will explore shaving cream with food color and in language the children will practice some writing/tracing of basic school words like art, paper, glue, play, bus etc. In math the children will color sort fruit counters. In the sensory table this week the children explored water with various size cups.
Lovin' Legos - Pre-School

Lego's are so fun! Monday in art the children created lego prints while painting with lego's/ In math the children matched, or crrated their own lego pattern either by color or by size. Tuesday in art the children glued lego shapes to create a lego collage and in math they built up lego's and counted how many. Wednesday was s'mores day and the children were busy building up their s;mores, that became our math and science for the day. In art we asked the children what they wanted to paint with and they chose toothbrushes. Today was our last swim day, not too many wanted to swim but quite a few friends had fun playing in the hose as the teacher held it up like a moving fubtain of water!
Music! Music! Music! - Pre-School

This week the children engaged in activities with a music theme. Monday in math the children engaged in a musical instrument bingo game and in art they painted at the easel with sponges. Tuesday the children engaged in musical instrument bingo again and practiced writing letters in language. We took a nice walk around the neighborhood. Yesterday the children listened to various sounds and tied to identify the sound using their listening language skill. In art the children painted with scrpaers and then the children had online music class with Ms. Lindsey! Today was swimming day!! So much fun in the water, they had a lot of fun splashing in the splashing pool as well. Tomorrow, we end the week with the children dictating what their favorite song is and what they like about the song for their language experience. In math the children will engage in a concentration activity of musical instruments and in art they will do some splatter painting!
Christmas in July! - Pre-School

We love Christmas! Monday in art the children painted Christmas trees green and in language the children engaged in an activity to look at a number card the teacher held up, identify and/or find it's match on their tree and cover up the letter. Tuesday the children did some cutting practice at the art table and in math they rolled a die to add the corresponding number of shape buttons to a gingerbread house. Wednesday in art the children glued red and green tissue paper to a stocking and in language they dictated what they would do or see if they went to the North Pole. In math the children matched various size straw to lines on paper that created a tree shape. Today was a swimming day!! Prior to swimming in math the children matched shapes to a Christmas tree and also worked with fine motor experiences of fidget toys, spinners, small magnet rings and cutting. Tomorrow in art the children will marble paint and in math they will help measure ingredients for sugar cookie mix and they will help stir and roll out and cookie cut the shapes for their Christmas cookies. The cookies experience hits all areas: science, math, language, social, motor and sensory! After baking the cookies, once they cool off the children will decorate them. In the sensory table this week the children explored water with fruit counters and ice cube trays. We also had some sensory buckets; one with noodles, cups and scoops and the other with rice, a shovel and cups.
Sports! Sports! Sports! - Pre-School

A week of all kinds of sports this week. Monday in art the children did some fly swatter painting and in language they drew letter cards and wrote the letter on a chalkboard. Coach Charlotte came and the children learned some golf skills! help to Others came on Monday as well and they helped the children learn golf with Coach Charlotte. Tuesday, baseball day! In art the children painted with baseballs, similar to marble painting style. In language the children dictated how to play baseball and in math the children sorted baseballs by size. Wednesday soccer day! IIn art the children worked on tearing paper, a good fine motor strengthening experience, and then gluing the pieces to paper. In math the children added soccer ball stickers to a grid using a die to determine how many stickers to add. This was another good fine motor activity with peeling the stickers off the sheet, a lot of eye hand coordination. Today was a swimming day and aways a fun day for the children. Tomorrow is football day and in art the children will paint with cups, in language they will clip letter clothespins to letters on footballs. This week in the sensory table the children explored working with noodles, scoops and cups.
All About Construction - Pre-School

It's all about construction tools, workers, and trucks! Monday in art the children painted with hammers and in math the children engaged in community helpers' bingo. Coach Charlotte came and the children learned some basic soccer skills. Tuesday in language the children worked on writing various letters as they chose construction words to practice writing and in art the children worked on cutting. Tuesday the children went for a walk around the block again. Wednesday in math the children engaged in a construction bingo game and in language they dictated if they could build anything what it would be, how they would build it and what tools they need. Today in art the children wanted to paint with the stampers, so we did that and in math the children matched tools by shape and the children also engaged in a things that go bingo game. Coach Charlotte was back today, and the children learned some basic volleyball skills. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with koosh rings, in language they will engage in a construction tools memory game and in math the children will build a tower using a die to determine how many blocks to add each turn.
Farm Fun - Pre-School

We love farm animals! Tuesday in art the children marble painted on pink paper, in language they sorted animal pictures of farm animals and not farm animals and in math the children graphed what their favorite farm animal is. The childre3n also took another walk around the block! Wednesday in art the children painted with loofah's and in language they dictated what farm animal they would be, what it can do, how it feels, what it smells. In math the children engaged in a musical chairs activity and when the music stopped, they named the number under their chair. Today was a swim day!! So fun to play in the water. Tomorrow in art the children will glue shapes to construct a farm on paper, in language they will dictate what they would have on their farm. In the sensory table this week the children explored ducks in water with large tongs and bowls. Eco-Explores will also come tomorrow for bug investigations, they will be here at 9:30.
Celebrating America - Pre-School

It is all about the land we love this week. Tuesday in art the children glued blue and red tissue paper to white paper, and in math the children sequenced stars in order by size. Tuesday was our walk day, and we took advantage of it not being too hot and went for a bit longer walk, walking up Belle, over to Marlowe and down to Detroit and back to St. Charles and up to the center. Yesterday as our annual Mud Day play! There was lots of mud, and lots of water, AND a fun splash pad! To cap off the mud day fun we ended it with ice cream treats!! Today was a swimming day! Prior to swimming the children worked with small motor materials such as tongs to pick up small frogs, a tower builder that's connected and moves in different ways and we put out buckets of rice for the children to explore as well. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with forks to create fireworks! In language the children will dictate what they will do on the Fourth of July and in math the children will create patterns with red, white and blue chips. All week the children worked with paper and scissors in the4 sensory table; another fun small motor activity to strengthen their small muscles.
Celebrating Dad - Pre-School

It's been a week all about dad! Monday in art the children painted with blue paint and in language they matched lettered ties. We took a morning walk around the block and the children did a nice job holding their partner's hand and it was a nice change of scenery for the children to see outside the center with their peers. The children also learned some new yoga poses with Ms. Meghan: tree pose, frog, downward dog and they learned another fun breath, the lion! Tuesday in art the children painted with stamps and in math they worked with a 1 to 1 correspondence grid and colored gems. At group time the children helped come up with words that start with the letter D such as deer, duck, dishwasher, dog, and donut! Wednesday in art the children painted with more blue and in language they shared some things about their dad's, be sure to read them in the window! Coach Charlotte came and the children learned and practiced some basic football throwing, Today was the perfect day for a swim! They had so much fun and the4 best part was seeing them all take a break sitting on their towels with a cup of water, just chillin'! Tomorrow in art the children will marble paint and in math they will engage in fathers day bingo.
Exploring Under the Sea - Pre-School

It's been a fun and busy week! Monday in art the children painted a starfish with a glue/paint mix and added cheerio's to it, and in math the children worked on their counting skills to count sea animals. Tuesday in art the children painted paper bags for a jellyfish and in language we discussed different kinds of sea animals and their names. Tuesday afternoon the children were introduced to Yoga with Ms. Meghan! They enjoyed it and learned about breathing, crocodile breathing. Ms. Meghan shared that crocodile breathing is good to use when the children are feeling mad or sad etc. We will incorporate this into the classroom as well. Wednesday the children made their egg shakers by scooping rice into a plastic egg and decorating with stickers, a-good fine motor experience. Today we were going to swim, but it was too chilly so we painted poster boards blue to create an ocean and in language the children dictated what they would do, and/or be, if they lived in the ocean. Tomorrow in language the children will match letters to the word of the same beginning sound and in math the children will add fish to the sea. In the sensory table this week the children got creative with the sea animals in water.
