Fun With Dinosaurs - Pre-School

Monday in art the children painted with dinosaur stampers and in language the children traced letters with dinosaur counters. In math the children matched numbered dinosaurs together. Tuesday in art the children tore paper and constructed a dinosaur on their paper with the torn pieces. In language the children engaged in a dinosaur bingo activity and in math they rolled a die and added the corresponding number of dinosaurs to a grid. Wednesday in art the children did some cutting practice and then glued the pieces to paper. In language the children practiced writing their name to create a dinosaur name and in math the children sorted dinosaur counters by color on a graph. Today in art the children glued dinosaur shapes to a large poster board and in language they dictated what would happen if they took a T-Rex to school. Tomorrow in art the children will marble paint and in language they will come up with a list of D words. In math the children will roll a number die, identify the number and then write the number. This week in the sensory table the children explored water with spoons, cups and bowls. Today we added some big dinosaurs with wash cloths.
Family Fun - Pre-School

With Thanksgiving approaching this week's theme was a great lead in to discuss how important families are, who is in a family and how thankful we are for family. Monday in art the children did some emotion face stamping and in language the children dictated what they like to do with their family. Tuesday in art the children explored playdough and in math they graphed people counters by color. Wednesday in art the children glued turkeys to a headband for the feast and in language they explored rhyming by matching the rhyming picture card to the same rhyme house. In math the children matched mommy animals to the bay animals. In the afternoon the children helped make the dessert for the feast! Today in art we had turkeys out to glue onto paper and in language the children matched letters to their names. In math the children added beads to pipe cleaner to string and count. We had our yummy feast today too! Tomorrow in art the children will create corn mosaics and in language they will find letters hidden around the room. In the sensory table this week the children have been exploring rice with fruit counters, ice cube trays, tongs, and containers to fill up.
Theme Week - Pre-School

Lots of fun theme days this week. Monday in art the children painted with cups and in language they traced letters with poker chips. In math the children added colored gems to a grid. Tuesday in art the children did some symmetry art, painting with string inside a folded piece of paper., and in math thy added jewels to a crown. Wednesday in art the children wanted to freely color and do playdough, so we did some fine motor explorations with playdough tools. In language the children matched rhyming pebbles and in math they sorted animal counters by color. Today the children explored more playdough and in math they matched hats by number. This afternoon for language they will practice writing letters. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with forks, in math they will do the jewel and crown activity again and in language they will dictate who their favorite Disney character is. This week in the water table the children explored veggie counters with strainers, tongs, funnels and bowls.
Fun For Halloween - Pre-School

Yeah! Halloween is coming, and we have had some fun activities this week. Monday in art the children cut out pumpkins and glued shapes to make a jack-o'-lantern. In math the children matched numbers to a candy corn and in language the children engaged in a Halloween bingo game. Tuesday in art the children continued to work on their jack-o-lanterns and in math the children added colored discs to a pumpkin 1 to 1 grid. We also took a walk around the block on the beautiful day and saw so many Halloween decorations, so fun! Wednesday in art the children painted with Halloween cookie cutters and math they sorted dinosaurs by color. Today the children worked their fine motor skills as they explored playdough with rollers, and cookie cutters. In language the children matched letters to haunted houses and in math they engaged in a Halloween concentration game. Tomorrow in art the children will do some crayon resist art and in math they will roll n' cover numbers on a jack-o-lantern. This week in the sensory table the children explored macaroni noodles with bugs, bowls and tongs.
Learning Numbers - Pre-School

All about numbers this week! Monday in art the children painted with number stamps and in language they engaged in a number words matching game. Tuesday in art the children created a picture with watercolors, in math they engaged in a road sign concentration game and in language they practiced writing number words. Wednesday in art the children painted at the easel, in math they engaged in a black and white memory game and in language they engaged in an I spy game of numbers in the room. Today in art the children painted with emotion face stampers and in math they graphed colors using bear counters. The children engaged in some small bead stringing today too. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with combs. In math they will add frog counters to lo=gs and in language they look for more numbers hidden around the room. In the sensory table this week the children worked with scissors and paper to practice their cutting skills.
Learning our Nursery Rhymes

This is always a fun week doing activities based on good old nursery rhymes! Monday in art the children painted with cookie cutters and in math they added lambs to a pasture using number cards to determine how many to add each turn. In language the children worked with rhyming houses by looking for the rhyming picture word to match the rhyming house. Tuesday in art the children painted with rollers and in language the children traced letters with colored discs. Wednesday in art the children practiced cutting and in math the children matched eggs by numbers. In language the children were introduced to the storyteller's box activity where they look at pictures of a person, place and action to put together a sentence or story. Today in art the children painted cardboard and in language they did some letter matching. The children also practiced writing their names and drawing people. Tomorrow in language the children will dictate what their favorite nursery rhyme is and why and in math the children will sort veggie counters by type or color. In art the children will do some chalk art. In the water table this week the children explored working with farm animals in water. The children have enjoyed the nursery rhymes this week, listening to stories and singing all the different songs.
Fire Safety, Community Helpers and More- Pre-School

This week has been all about fire safety and all sorts of occupations in our communities and outside our communities. The children have learned that every job a person has is helpful to others in some way; and there are so many jobs. Monday in art the children painted with cars and in math they worked on a fire extinguisher shape matching activity. This activity also incorporated some fine motor skills for the children to clip a clothespin to the matching shape on the card. Tuesday in art the children painted with toothbrushes and in language they worked on beginning letter sounds and letter identification by finding the letter that matched the beginning sound to the wors, the words of occupations such as teacher, dentist, veterinarian and more. Tuesday Evan's mom came in to talk about her job as a pediatrician and she brought some tools she uses, fun! Wednesdays in math the children matched the helper to the vehicle they used and then counted how many there were, the activity is displayed in the math area still and the children go there freely throughout the day. Eli's dad came yesterday to do a visit with all the classroom to talk about his job as an ER doctor, and a doctor who is part of the life flight team for Metro, he brought a video of the helicopter taking off and landing, so cool! Today the children explored their small muscles at the art table with stringing beads, small magnet rings and other fun fidgets to aid in strengthening their muscles. Margie's mom did a virtual with the children today and her nurse friends demonstrated what they do with patients at the nursing home to check vitals, take temperature and the children got to see Atticus, Margie's dog who comes to her mom's work to help with patients in therapy. This afternoon we will share some of the photos the parents have brought in showing them at work and the tools they use. Tomorrow in art the children will do some band aid art and in language the children will dictate what community helper they would want to be.

This week the children explore all things pirate. On Monday in language the children matched lettered treasures to a treasure map. IN math they added treasures to a 1 to 1 correspondence grid and in art the children painted their 3D creations from last week. Tuesday in language the children worked with some beginning sounds of pirate items such as hat, flag, treasure and boat. In math the children engaged in pirate bingo and in art the children sponge painted. Wednesday in language the children worked on writing letters that they drew from a pile of lettered cards. In math the children played a pirate concentration activity to match like eye patches together and in art the children glued scrap paper to poster board. Today in math the children worked with the concentration game again and in art they explored play dough, a great fine motor activity! Tomorrow in language the children will dictate "If I were a pirate," and in math they will move a boat along the map path game. In art the children will do some paint and glitter work. This week in the sensory table the children explored water with treasures, strainers and small boats and in the block area boats were added to offer more creative play.
Fun with Colors & Shapes - Pre-School

This week was all about shape and colors. Monday in art the children painted with loofah's and in math the children engaged in a shape bingo activity. Tuesday in art the children created a shape collage, gluing various shapes to paper. In language the children practiced tracing shapes, a good practice for pincer grip with a writing tool. In math the children created patterns with shape stringing beads. Wednesday in art the children painted with shape stamper's and in math they sorted shapes and counted which was more or less. The language activity was done as a large group at group time where the teacher described an object in the room of it's shape and color and the children needed to find or guess what it was. This experience was a bit of a challenge, so we modified the activity to a simple eye spy game to name colored items matching the color spied. Today the children wanted to color so we made that our art for the day. The children also explored oatmeal, a good sensory exploration. In language the children matched color words together and we incorporated some math to identify how many e's they saw in all the words, or b's, and o's and so on. Tomorrow in art the children will work with marshmallows and sugar cubes to create some fun 3D structures. In language the children will help create a list of foods that are red, orange, yellow, green, and purple. In math the children will sort shapes by size. In the sensory table this week the children explored water with bowls, small colanders and small cups.
Learning About Our New Friends - Pre-School

This week the children explored a theme all about friends, what and who they are and how they can be helpful too. Tuesday in art the children did some easel painting with small foam brushes and in language the children practiced writing their names. Wednesday in art the children painted with sponges and in math they added fruite counters to a bowl using a die to determine how many to add each turn. Today in art the children explored painting with watercolors and for language we did a large group experience to find letters hidden around the room. This afternoon the children will do some musical chairs and name the shapes on their chairs they sit on when the song stops. Tomorrow in art the children will make apple prints and in math the children will do a color hunt where they will be given a color and then need to count how many things, they see in the room that color. In language they will dictate why friends are special.
